Loose Ends-July

I was able to stay the whole day for the Loose Ends Fiber Addicts "meeting".

Spun some of the fiber I bought from the yarn shop, Fiber Frenzy, in Berea earlier this year.

I'm calling it "Mermaid Hair".

It really is very pretty.
I just love the teal and orange combination!

FO Friday!

It's not much, but the binding is stitched down and this small hot pad is FiNiShEd!!

Listening to Dracula and trying to assess my WIPs for quick and easy finishes. Most of the other projects need bindings cut and attached.

I might just switch to knitting.

Fire!

I love a good fire!
And while we were at Camp, we had a great one!

You just can't beat a good camp fire!

FO Friday!

I think this might be my first legitimate Finished Object Friday!

So, here's the Mountaineer Baby Quilt!

It will be delivered to my little brother & his beautiful wife on Sunday! I'm so excited to meet my newest nephew.

Now, I need to go back to Pinterest to see what "Momma" wanted knit for those first photos!

Another "To Do" List

We are home again...took a mini, whirlwind trip to The Great Smoky Mountains.

I packed the fancy camera, downloaded all of the old pictures, cleared the disk and took 0 pictures. Yep. A big fat goose-egg.

We went to The Dixie Stampede, Dollywood, Ripley's Aquarium, The Old Mill restaurant and I didn't bother taking a single picture.

So, now we are home again, and I'm looking at an impressive amount of laundry, a filthy kitchen, trash that didn't get taken out for pickup on Monday and several deadlines that are creeping up on me.
1. I need to finish the binding on the Mountaineer Baby Quilt. My newest nephew is due to arrive early next month.

2. I had hoped to have Darren's socks finished by Father's Day. I got tickets to a Heuy Lewis concert instead.

3. Still need to book a hotel room for the concert.

4. Mom's birthday is coming up and I wanted to finish my summer KAL, Sand Castles Shawl, because it gets chilly in the hospital when she goes for chemo.

5. School is finished, portfolio is done but I still need to get evaluations and my notice of intent to the board of education before the end of the month.

I'm also stressing over these new government issues of removing country of origin from our food supplies. We get out beef locally, but may need to start raising some poultry...and doing more fishing.

Anyway, I'm about done with my coffee and had better get busy. Money stuff first. I need to get finances sorted from our trip and go over the monthly bills. Probably my least favorite task.

Apparently,

My iPhone and/or Blogger are conspiring against me!
I found several posts from the past couple of months that were never published.
I'll be trying to re-publish them...in order...over the next couple of hours.
Enjoy!

The Hazards of Poolside Knitting

I took the twins out to the pool this morning. They wanted to swim before going to lunch.

While they were swimming & having a lot of fun, I was chasing my pattern for the Sand Castles Shawl.
It ended up in the pool.
It didn't get completely soaked, but it was wet enough.

What I didn't realize was...as I went chasing after it, (mid-row) all my yarn was pulling from the ball. Of course, this would be the time that the ball stayed put instead of rolling away from me. I am, however, grateful that it didn't decide to take a swim with the pattern.

Camp Quilt Stuff

This time last week, we were getting ready to head to Camp. It was a bit quieter this year with Chief and just two of the guys from Darren's shift.

I took my 1 1/2" strips and sorted and cut dresdens and some tumblers for Bonnie Hunters leaders & enders project this year. (Forgive me, I'm still trying to learn how to link from my iPhone.)

When we got home, this happened...

I didn't have enough different fabrics for a full circle. I'm looking for more, but might just change the plan to 1/4s and see how that works.

I started the tumblers, but just to gauge the offset to get them to line up nicely.

I'd love to hear about your projects using dresdens or tumblers!

Tommy has Arrived

Sweet little Tommy has finally arrived.
Jen went to the hospital late last night & the little guy put up quite a fight.
He was born this evening around 8:30.
He weighed in at 8 lb 5 oz.
And he has red hair! Or so I've been told. I won't know for sure until I see for myself tomorrow.

While I was waiting at home, I got a bit of quilting done, some organizing of fabrics and a little crochet.

Squared up some blocks on the design wall, folded fat quarters & sorted 1/4 yd, 1/2 yd, 1 yd & 1+ yardage.

In other news...the excitement of the night was the dog getting skunked. Lots to do tomorrow and now we will have to clean the porch, toss out all of the cushions & get rid of the carpets out there. He rubbed everywhere. At least the girls were willing to clean him up. Protective layers of gloves, Saran Wrap on the hair and arms, masks and old clothes. I promised no pictures, but they sure did look great!

Hope your day smells better than mine.
