Scraps

It's taken me a couple of days, but I've managed to strip, square & brick another box of fabric. Anything greater than a half yard is folded and returned to the box.

The pile in the upper right is what is going into the trash. I also found some sewn pieces, half squares and triangles that will be boxed separately.

How often do you organize your scraps?

Life Interrupted

Planned to work on some quilting today.

Settled on this blue for backing a couple of 12" squares.

Thought I'd put these orphans together.

Then, I found and sorted this box of scraps.

Just as I was plugging in the iron, my oldest calls to tell me she has locked her keys in her car...while it was running...and could I please bring her the spare. It took a few minutes to get dressed...it's in the single digits here & you know it's warmer if you just stay in your pjs. 30 minutes to cross town to get to her, something hit my windshield and cracked it, figured I might as well grab some essentials since I was already out in the cold. Brownie mix...check. Bread & milk...check. Red box movies...check. 2 bottles of wine...and I'm set for the night.

Time to press and sort scraps and watch Boxtrolls with Thing 1 & Thing 2.

What gets you out on cold wintery days?

Stay warm & tangle free!

The Things You Hear...

Dad: "It's saline & syringes. I'm going to shoot it up my nose."

Thing 2: "Ooh! Can I watch?!"

Sunday Fun Day

I haven't accomplished much this week with the Twins' mid-year evaluation having taken place on Wednesday.

It was a lazy Saturday & today was spent running around town with the kiddos. Our county 4H groups met this afternoon to go ice skating. Everyone had a good time and I re-met a lady that had visited our Loose Ends Fiber Addicts (LEFA) meeting at the lodge at Tygart Lake State Park this past fall. Her son is really interested in learning to spin...and she is a classically trained violinist. (I have secretly been wanting to take violin lessons! This could work out well for both of us!) They are planning to come to our next meeting a week from Saturday.

Back to today...
While everyone was ice skating, I spent a little time outside in the sunshine working on my Steamy CAL project. I'm deviating (because it's so easy to do) by adding in random turquoise stripes. Here's the most recent photo.

After skating we took Princess to her tennis lesson. This is a new sport for all of us. She's not very confident & a bit out of shape, but she's looking forward to the next lesson.

After dropping her off, Darren & I ditched Thing 1 and Thing 2 at the SpongeBob movie and met some friends we hadn't seen in a while for dinner & drinks.

All in all, not a bad day.

Now I'm snuggled up waiting for the Grammy's and working a little more on my Steamy Shawl.

What's your plan for the Grammy's?

Hoping you stay tangle free while you work through the Grammy's!

A Steamy Friday Night

From this...

To this...

I can't complain too much. It's been a busy week. We had our mid-year homeschool evaluation & made some changes to our curriculum, so MY school time was more focused on the new books. Our old ones were very familiar so Thing 1 & Thing 2 could often work independantly with occasional help from me. Now they need a little more guidance as they get familiar with the new concepts and written directions.

Anyway, nothing new knitted on the Perfect Cloud Shawl and only minimal work on the January Sock Club sock.

Let's see how Steamy I can get over the rest of this weekend!

Enjoy!

Just Start Stitching

I finished up the leg warmers.
I started a new sock...January's Sock Club 2015 from Yarn Mountain.  I think it's called Cozy House Sock.
I joined the SteamyCAL on Yarn Mountain tonight.

I've managed to stay tangle-free...even with the yarn barf to start this shawl.
