Open Cup Update

Twins team won their first game!
We play again at 4pm.

It's been a typical road trip so far.  Dr. Pepper, Cheetos & Bon Jovi before 930 yesterday morning. Can't beat that!
Krispy Kreme donuts for lunch and spent the afternoon at Jane's studio.

She must have taken the pictures of my boys...they made mug rugs & had a fun time while Jane & I worked up a project sheet for my rug loom.

Dinner at the Golden Corral. Just one rule...DO NOT PUT THE COTTON CANDY UNDER THE CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!!

Look for another update this evening. Plan is to go to Fat Pattys for dinner!

Trail Ride Update

I haven't spent much time with my socks this week, so today I took Darren's Trail Ride pair to the doctor's office. They were running right on schedule so I didn't get much done... 1 purl round and most of a pattern round.

I'm hoping I can get them finished by Father's Day. Not that a deadline actually helps me get things done. But I like to try and convince myself that I can set reasonable goals.

I'll be taking these and my summer KAL to the twin's Open Cup Tournament this weekend.

What will you be working on?

A Relaxing Weekend

Darren had a rare weekend off & we pretty much did nothing.
Well, we did lots of stuff but it was mostly stuff that we wanted to do.
We had a small cookout on Saturday and I was able to sit on the front porch and read or spin or knit...whatever I wanted to do.

Darren mostly worked in his shop when we didn't have company. I guess he didn't relax as much as I did. He cut the grass, moved in a couch and was pretty much in charge of the cooking. But, he enjoys the cooking so that really doesn't count.

I'll be getting my knitting updates ready and hopefully you will see them tomorrow.

Adios.

Today is May 26.

It seems like I'm always complaining about all the work or projects that need done around here.  Something is always lurking in the background saying "Pay attention to me!"

Other than the daily chores, here is a little list of the things that need for me to give them some attention.

1. The baby's quilt needs to be finished.  It hasn't progressed at all since my last update on it.
2. Darren's Trail Ride socks are in a little bag of their own and if I trip over them on my way out the door, they might get to ride along and get some stitches while I wait for school to let out.
3. My  socks (I'm not sure what pattern yet) is laying on the bedside table waiting for me to decide what they are going to be. But, the toes are done!
4. The fiber I purchased earlier this month is waiting to be spun.  The Rose Quartz is a little more than half done.  I have one thread spun and the other bobbin started so, that's good.
5. I just cast on for the Yarn Mountain Summer Knit a Long...Sand Castles Shawl.
6. I have new warp colors for my rug loom, but I need to take off the rugs that are still on the loom and I need to do a project sheet.
7. I've also started working on two different websites.  I haven't done anything along those lines for quite some time and even though its easier, I still need to learn how everything works.

I think I will try and get a schedule worked up so that I can see where my time is being spent and what I can  do to streamline all of the things that need to be done.

I guess I can do that tonight, while I spend an hour or so at the soccer field for the boys' practice.

Now, it's off to start dinner preparations.  Baked steak takes a while to cook and it needs to be in the oven an hour ago.

Toodles...

Playing in the Dirt

The twins and I are desperately trying to plant and maintain a few garden plants.

Our current gardening spot did not produce well last year and we are going to try to build it up and get it in better shape.

So, here's what we've done:

We repurposed a Chic-fil-a nugget tray, filled it with a potting soil mix and planted some lettuces.

We weeded and placed a stone border on the front corner of the porch. I relocated some of my lemon balm here and planted some beans (to vine up the porch rails) and I'll need to wait and see what else (if anything) grows because I don't remember what I planted.

These are packing containers that my daughter brought home from work. Each container has six holes with five peas in each hole. They are tied to the old, ragged steps off the kitchen. (In the background is my homemade black composter that was given to us by my uncle.)

Where is the strangest place you've planted garden plants?

Maryland Sheep & Wool 2015

I had a great time this weekend at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival!

Because I was helping out some friends, I didn't get to wander around very much.  But, I did manage to slip off and get a few pictures...

Lots & lots of great stuff!

Let me know if you get out to a fiber festival this year!
